The Way of One Canadian Hearthkeeper

Welcome to a Hearthkeeper's home. A place where the past will meet the present. Where home cooking and sewing, gardening and home economics will mesh in a wonderfully weird way.

I am a lover of Victorian and Edwardian aesthetics and while I would never want to travel back to a time without running water, I do not like the crazy, angry, fast-paced modern world we are living in. I want graceful living, a pretty flower garden and an abundant veggie garden. I want doilies, fine China and crystal. I want to return to the best of the past and throw away the worst of the present.

This path will have its ups and downs. It won’t always be easy because life is never easy. There will be things my grandmothers grew up knowing that I will need to learn, and there will be some things I know that I can pass onto the women coming after me.

I am not there yet but I welcome you to share my journey. Who knows, perhaps you will also find your path along the way.
